Hierarchy

How we mix our typefaces is an important part of our
brand system. We use Canva Sans Display to be bold and
proud, and Canva Sans Regular for easy readability.

Our headlines

This is how we treat body copy. Canva Sans Regular is
a workhorse and great for lots of text.

This is how we treat smaller copy like captions.

Typesetting

Letter Spacing AND Line Spacing

Canva Sans looks best when it’s spaced comfortably. It should be
spaced so that the letters sit strongly next to other, with enough
clear space that they don’t overlap.

Subheadings 0 / 1

Alignment

We align type either to the left or center. Left alignment is a classic,
clear way to present text, especially longer copy. Center alignment
is a more striking approach for shorter, simpler lines of text.

sentence case

We talk to our users like they're our friends and family, and so we
use sentence case to keep our writing casual and easy to read.

You should only use a capital letter at the start of a sentence or
the beginning of a proper noun, such as a person, place,
organization, or a trademark product like Magic Studioâ„¢.

Highlighter

Padding

When creating the highlight, use the lowercase ‘h’ & ‘t’ as a guide.
The crossbar height of the lowercase ‘t’ is used determine the
highlights padding above and below the ‘h’. This same value is used
to determine the padding at the start and end of the word.

The highlighter is a UI element we use on headlines to
humanize our product and bring emphasis to messaging.

Dynamic type

In brand awareness campaigns where it's appropriate to be more
playful, we can use dynamic type. You should only use this type
treatment with permission from the brand team, so please reach
out to them first.

Special use

DRAG-AND-DROP type

We also have drag-and-drop type, which is where we use a bounding
box around a word or phrase to create a feeling of work in progress.

Only use this treatment with permission from the brand team.

Language support

Canva Sans is available in all languages that use
the Latin alphabet. For any other languages, we
use Noto Sans in Regular and Medium.

Fonts for content

We use flexible visual content within our brand system to
reflect our community around the world. This means we
can use other fonts when heroing content, but never on
our gradient. Please check with the brand team if your font
choice is licensed before you press publish.
